Until, one day, I lost my job.
“We won’t be needing your services anymore”, my boss told me.
Anger, sadness, and confusion all flooded my thoughts, as I struggled to make sense of what was happening.
But I didn’t have time to grieve or complain.
I had just lost my sole source of income.
I needed to do something about my financial situation immediately.
I didn’t know what to do. Find another job where I would be at the mercy of another boss? Start a business?
I brainstormed for solutions.
At the time I didn’t possess a lot of marketable skills, but physical training and nutrition were an enduring passion of mine, and I was a certified fitness coach.
So I decided to go for broke and launch a fitness coaching, consulting and course creation business.
Unfortunately, it proved to be challenging to sell a digital course as an unknown fitness coach in a highly competitive niche such as weight loss.
I lost my entire marketing budget on paid ads and failed to secure a single sale.
In the next few months, I tried all kinds of organic and paid tactics to sell my course, as well as to acquire online coaching clients.
I tried guest blogging, creating YouTube videos, engaging people on forums and groups, cold messaging, running ads on different platforms, and on and on.
All to no avail.
I felt like a failure and I was about to give up.
